G.A.T.E.WAYS — Who are we and what do we do?

Established in 1994, G.A.T.E.WAYS mission was to provide opportunities for gifted, talented, and high ability children. Whilst many schools currently support students through differentiation, individual plans, and competitions, G.A.T.E.WAYS complements these through innovative programs, offering enrichment beyond the school curriculum.

At the forefront are our fabulous presenters, with over 200 experts from a variety of fields and backgrounds e.g., primary, secondary and tertiary teaching; science, mathematics, the arts, politics, technology, philosophy and ethics. G.A.T.E.WAYS presenter program workshops are rich and rigorous in content, apply specific methodologies appropriate to their domain, and are delivered with passion; providing children with a unique and inspiring experience.

G.A.T.E.WAYS is interested to speak with and engage presenters of the highest quality in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane; from many different fields, especially those with expertise in children’s literature, language and writing; and all areas of science, mathematics, problem solving/thinking skills, philosophy, spoken English (debating/public speaking), politics/world issues, history, art and drama.


A presenter for G.A.T.E.WAYS will be:

  • Expert in a given field or fields
  • Passionate about the field and able to convey their enthusiasm to children
  • An excellent communicator
  • An excellent and innovative educator
  • Knowledgeable about the diverse needs of gifted children, how they learn, and how to provide a differentiated curriculum for these children
  • Creative, flexible and skilled in terms of curriculum development and delivery. Programs will be inquiry based, with plenty of hands-on activities, problem solving, and higher order thinking. Popular programs are those which are scenario-based, ‘hypotheticals’ or mysteries. Programs will take children well beyond the regular curriculum
  • Able to collaborate with G.A.T.E.WAYS on program development
  • Able to travel throughout the metropolitan area, with opportunities to travel interstate

G.A.T.E.WAYS requires presenters to:

  • Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • Have a current Working With Children Check OR equivalent interstate document
  • Have a Certificate in the First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis 22300VIC OR the equivalent interstate certification
  • Provide their own teaching materials and equipment
